Free Software: To Use or Not To Use - That is the Question.

Jun 11, 2013

The Math Magazine strives to locate and share great free Math resources; however, there are times when other Free resources are needed - such as PDF editors. I have found numerous free PDF editors that are web based but finding one that could be downloaded has been a task. Most of the "free" software has loopholes, such as watermarks, minimal file sizes, limited number of files that can be uploaded before the "trial version" expires and the list of limitations could go on and on. BUT finally The Math Magazine has located a very useful FREE PDF editor without all the glitches and loopholes of other free software. PDFill PDF Tools are FREE PDF functions to merge, split, reorder, delete, encrypt, decrypt, rotate, crop and reformat PDF pages,  to add information, header, footer and watermark, to convert images to PDF, PDF to images or PostScript to PDF, to delete, flatten and list form fields, to scan to pdf, to create transparent image, and more. No watermarks! No pop-up ads! FREE for personal or commercial use! FREE distribution! Of course, PDFill has tools and options that can be purchased, but the basic tools option has just about every function you could ever need when working with PDF files. The image shows a screen shot of the free tools download. The Math Magazine has used this tool daily and so far, no problems at all to report.
